They include conducting masterclasses and rehearsals with the Choeur de la maîtrise en direction chorale, vocal techniques and repertoire workshops as well as theory and musicology seminars. The weekend formula (Friday to Sunday) allows students to continue to respect their employment and family commitments while benefiting from an intensive, dynamic and practical program of studies.

École d’été de chant choral (Summer Choral School)

Intensive training session for experienced, passionate choral conductors and choral singers. (A wonderful French-immersion opportunity)

Since 2000, during an intensive week at the end of June, experienced choristers from Quebec and elsewhere come together at Université de Sherbrooke to share their passion for the choral art. They sing the most beautiful choral works of the classical repertoire and work alongside professional and apprentice choral conductors, renowned soloists as well as high-caliber teachers and musicians from everywhere in Quebec and sometimes other provinces or countries. During the week the participants have the chance to take part in a wide variety of interesting and stimulating activities, some of which are open to the public. The week culminates in a grand gala concert conducted by Robert Ingari or an invited conductor.

Over the last few years, the École d’été de chant choral has become a reference of training in the choral art in Quebec. Université de Sherbrooke acknowledged the exceptional quality of the 2013 edition by bestowing upon it the award Grande distinction en enseignement universitaire in the team-teaching category.
